A. Ramanujan

A. K. Ramanujan (1929-1993) was an Indian poet and scholar. He wrote in both English and Kannada. He was a professor at the University of Chicago for many years, where he taught in several departments, including South Asian Languages and Civilizations, Linguistics, and the Committee on Social Thought. Ramanujan was a renowned translator of classical and medieval Tamil and Kannada poetry. He received a MacArthur Fellowship in 1983. His notable works include The Interior Landscape: Love Poems from a Classical Tamil Anthology, Speaking of Shiva, and Hymns for the Drowning: Poems for Vishnu.
