Alexander Wooley is a director at AidData, an international development research lab at William & Mary. A former British Royal Navy officer, he has written frequently on naval and maritime issues, including a cover story in Foreign Policy in 2021 on U.S. Navy shipbuilding woes. His articles have also appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, The Atlantic, and Proceedings. Wooley lives in Williamsburg, VA.
