The Lucky Fan

The Lucky Fan is not a typical sports memoir. It is a living archive of American sports history, filtered through one lifetime, against the backdrop of San Francisco Bay Area championship sports teams. It spans the 1906 San Francisco earthquake that brought the author’s grandparents together through a Little League All-Star summer, Seal Stadium days on through twenty championship seasons with the Giants, A’s, 49ers, Raiders, and Warriors. Its generational story telling encounters great sports figures like Joe Montana, Steph Curry, Reggie Jackson, and Madison Bumgarner. It shares a record of how championship teams were built, and how games were watched, celebrated, and remembered… all as though listening from across a kitchen table.
