Brian W. Lavery is a Scottish writer, poet, journalist, and academic. He held top-level posts on several national and international newspapers, served as news editor of two regional papers, and edited three weekly papers, at one point becoming the country’s youngest newspaper editor.
His published works include The Luckiest Thirteen and The Headscarf Revolutionaries. Brian has been featured as a writer and presenter on BBC Radio Four’s Four Thought series. He received the City of Kingston upon Hull Lord Mayor’s Civic Crown Award for his services in preserving his adopted city’s heritage. Dr. Lavery has also lectured in creative writing and journalism at the Universities of Leeds and Hull.
