What They're Saying

Critics Review

“The visuals are refreshing in their simplicity: solid black shadows and big swooping curves that still make it easy to tell characters apart. Every major character has very different faces and body types, and in cases where characters do look similar, it’s usually intentional and pays off later. Jenn Manley Lee’s limited color palette makes each episode feel unified and pulled together. The lettering is stylish and sleek as well.”—Masha Zhdanova (REVIEW: The Women of Lavender Jack, Women Write About Comics)

“While the characters of Lavender Jack certainly shine well on their own and I would eat up an episodic serial of these people running around solving smaller-scale mysteries, another strong point for this comic is its continuity and worldbuilding. Everything that happens over the course of the narrative has a very clear cause and effect and Schkade does a fantastic job at foreshadowing future plot points and weaving in believable consequences for the choices characters make.”—Gillian Thomson (Lavender Jack by Dan Schkade – WebToon Review!, Comic Book Herald)

“One of the biggest draws is how layered it all is. Both Lavender Jack and Ferrier are complicated and fully fleshed out characters, which makes you more invested in the story from the beginning.”—Deanna Destito (A Year of Free Comics: Who is really the villain in LAVENDER JACK?, Comics Beat)
