Charles Fay, PhD

Dr. Charles Fay is an internationally recognized author, consultant, and public speaker, and president of the Love and Logic Institute. Millions of educators, mental health professionals, and parents worldwide have benefited from Dr. Fay’s practical solutions to common and frustrating behaviors displayed by youth of all ages. His methods are derived from years of research and clinical experience serving severely disturbed youth and their families in psychiatric hospitals, public and private schools, and homes.

Dr. Fay’s interest in education and psychology was influenced by his father, Jim Fay, a leading expert in child discipline with over 50 years of experience in public education. The internationally recognized Love and Logic approach was developed around Dr. Charles Fay as he grew. He jokes that he became a psychologist to understand what his parents were doing to him as a child, but expresses his deep admiration for them.

Dr. Fay earned his PhD with highest honors from the University of South Carolina. Before and during his university training in school and clinical psychology, he gained valuable experience working with children in psychiatric, public school, and mental health settings. His engaging sense of humor and storytelling skills make his presentations memorable and transformative, connecting learning with joy and real-life examples.

Dr. Fay and his wife, Monica, live in the mountains near Denver, Colorado. They have three adult sons. When not writing, consulting, or speaking, he enjoys snowmobiling, off-road motorcycle riding, hiking, and other outdoor activities with his family.
