Daniel Keyes
Born in 1927, Daniel Keyes joined the US merchant marine at age 17. He won the Hugo Award for the short story that Flowers for Algernon was based on and the Nebula Award for the novel itself. He held a Master’s degree in English and American literature and was a Professor of English and Creative Writing. He passed away in June 2014.
