Dave Witty

Dave Witty is an urban planner and the author of the bestselling What the Trees See: A Wander Through Millennia of Natural History in Australia. This book, a finalist for the 2024 NIB Literary Award, examines aspects of Australia’s history through our indigenous and non-indigenous trees.

Witty is the editor of Best Australian Nature Writing and the recipient of the 2021 Rosina Joy Buckman Award in the Nature Writing Prize. His work appears widely in Australian literary journals, and his walking tours of trees have been a highlight of many festivals.
