David Hinton

DAVID HINTON

David Hinton is a widely acclaimed author of numerous books of poetry and essays. He is also a translator of ancient Chinese poetry and philosophy, with his work deeply informed by an abiding interest in deep ecological thinking.

Hinton’s distinguished career has been recognized with a Guggenheim Fellowship, multiple fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). He has also received both of the major awards for poetry translation in the United States: the Landon Translation Award from the Academy of American Poets and the PEN American Translation Award. Most recently, Hinton was honored with a lifetime achievement award by the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
