David Maywald
David Maywald is a courageous, inquisitive, forthright, and family-centred thought leader. He is a board member, husband, and proud father to a son and daughter. David is also a passionate advocate for males, with a calling to spark transformational change for men and boys, creating positive societal spillovers.
He lives in the national capital of Australia with his family. His career spans Investment Management, with previous roles at J.P. Morgan, Credit Suisse, and BT Funds Management.
A lifelong learner, David holds a double university degree and qualifications as a Chartered Financial Analyst. He has also completed numerous courses and executive programs, including the Boardroom Mastery program with the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Governing for Nonprofit Excellence at Harvard Business School. David is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a Fellow of the Institute of Community Directors Australia. Over the past three decades, he has served twenty organizations in a governance capacity, including chairing a Public Company.
David is a Board Director for the International Council for Men and Boys (ICMB), the leading global body advocating for males, with 232 member organizations in 43 countries across its related entities. He is also an Executive Leader for International Men’s Day, celebrated annually on November 19th since 1999.
He founded the Awards for Men in Leadership, recognizing positive male role models, and Celebrating Masculinity, an initiative designed to inspire all men and boys. His writing combines research, lived experience, and moral conviction, aiming to restore balance in a culture that has often sidelined boys and men.
David’s first book, The Relentless War on Masculinity, was published on International Men’s Day in 2025. It became an Amazon bestseller in several categories and led to over one hundred podcasts, speeches, presentations, and interviews. David has regularly contributed to mainstream media and frequently advocates for men and boys in Australia at national and state levels.
