Of all Prothero’s books, this one is arguably the most fun and mind-broadening. He treats a range of fossil mammals—some familiar, others mysterious—and his accounts of their discoveries are refreshing and invite exploration. A great book for students of paleontology and for all curious minds. – Xiaoming Wang, author of Dogs: Their Fossil Relatives & Evolutionary HistoryFrom the American mastodon to Australopithecus, this book is an in-depth tour of the most remarkable fossil mammals known to paleontology. This very readable book will inform and educate laypersons, students, and professionals alike—another masterful contribution by Donald R.
