Critics Review
“Wow! Stuck in a Flat World offers a thought-provoking new framework for understanding how our increasingly screen-based lives may be reshaping the human brain. Dr. Meenal Agarwal challenges us to reconsider not only how we use technology, but how we experience the world around us. I couldn’t put the book down and will have my teenage kids read it ASAP.”
Dr. Amy Killen, author of The Female Longevity Advantage
“As a pediatrician, I spend every day thinking about what helps children grow into healthy, resilient adults. In Stuck in a Flat World, Dr. Meenal Agarwal asks important questions, offers practical solutions, and reminds us that sometimes the best way to help our brains is to spend a little less time on screens and a little more time engaging with the real world.”
Dr. Joel Warsh, pediatrician and author of Between A Shot And A Hard Place and Parenting At Your Child’s Pace
“So many of us are trying to understand what growing up in an increasingly digital world is actually doing to our kids. In Stuck in a Flat World, Dr. Meenal Agarwal brings an incredibly important and often overlooked piece of that conversation to light: the role that real-world, three-dimensional experiences play in how our children’s brains develop. Dr. Agarwal doesn’t just explain why this matters, but gives parents practical, realistic ways to help kids engage more fully with the world around them.”
McCall McPherson, PA-C, founder of Modern Thyroid Clinic
“At a time when so many of us feel overwhelmed, disconnected, and stretched thin, Stuck in a Flat World offers a compassionate reminder that our well-being isn’t just about what’s happening inside our bodies, but also about the environment we’re living in every day.”
Mona Sharma, global wellness advocate and host of Rooted in Wellness podcast
Dr Meenal Agarwal
Dr. Meenal Agarwal is a leading voice on the eye-brain connection and how modern digital environments are reshaping the way we navigate the world. As a board-certified optometrist and mother, she brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work. She opened her first clinic at age twenty-four and has since built three successful practices across Toronto.
Her work explores how constant screen use and reduced real-world interaction impact spatial awareness, emotional regulation, and human connection. She coined the term Spatial Awareness Processing Disorder to describe how our flat-world lifestyle alters the brain’s ability to process movement and social cues, with early patterns often emerging in children.
Dr. Agarwal is the podcast host of Uncover Your Eyes: The Truth About Health and Wellness, bridging neuroscience, health, and everyday life to empower advocacy. Her work has been featured in Time magazine, and on CNN, Forbes, and Fox News. She lives in Toronto with her family.
