What They're Saying

Critics Review

“Although women make up 50 percent of medical school classes, they’re still underrepresented in many areas of medicine. Dr. Dewan’s story is an inspiring example of leadership across gender and ethnic barriers for anyone contemplating a career in medicine or health. Her extraordinary book is particularly moving for women in medicine and for their partners, children, and parents. The lessons apply to any of us trying to overcome barriers and tackle difficult challenges.” –Dr. Megan L. Ranney, MD, MPH, FACEP, Founding Director of the Brown-Lifespan Center for Digital Health and Deputy Dean at the School of Public Health at Brown University

“An inspiring memoir of how one woman achieves greatness despite a male-dominated culture that ‘women don’t do neurosurgery.’ The lessons Dr. Dewan shares can apply to anyone looking to make their mark in a male-dominated field.” –Priya Doty, Chief Marketing Officer of NeuroBlade, MBA MIT Sloan School of Business & Management

“Dr. Dewan’s personal journey is one we can connect with on a multitude of levels: from the tragedies to triumphs of life as not just a neurosurgeon, but as a parent and human. Readers will walk away inspired and apt to apply her lessons on how we can carry forward with perseverance and passion to do our best work and live fully, both as people and as professionals.” –Melissa Goltra, Managing Partner of FOCUS Training
