Emily Lessard
Emily Lessard is the founder of The Plant Native, a platform dedicated to making native plants accessible and engaging for beginners. She holds a certification in sustainable landscapes and is currently pursuing a Native Plant Landscaping certificate from Temple University. Emily combines her ecological knowledge with a background in creative strategy, also serving as the chief strategy officer of Bellweather, a brand-strategy agency.
Driven by a desire to counter the often academic and exclusive tone prevalent in the gardening and native plant communities, Emily launched The Plant Native in 2021. Her goal is to shift the narrative surrounding native plants, believing that just as popular culture can elevate fictional characters, it can also make native species like milkweed and their associated wildlife, such as monarchs, widely recognized and celebrated.
