Summary
Your body is responding to your last meal right now. The molecules from what you ate are circulating through your bloodstream, binding to receptors, triggering cascades, leaving traces. Enrique C. Fernández
Enrique C. Fernández, MD, MBA, FAAFP, is a board-certified family physician in private practice in Miami, Florida. Over more than two decades in community medicine, he has managed type 2 diabetes in the primary-care setting, addressing the real-world constraints of time, insurance, and human behavior.
He holds an MBA alongside his medical degree and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. His clinical work centers on the Network Based Diabetes Care (NBDC) framework, which views type 2 diabetes as a network of seven interacting molecular pathways rather than a singular metric. He has published peer-reviewed research on glycation biochemistry and advanced glycation end-products, and continues to see patients in Miami.
Eating Against the Network is the first volume of the NBDC series.
