Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, progressing to become a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story about a small puppy for his son, thus bringing Spot to life. He published Where’s Spot? in 1980, an interactive children’s book that featured an innovative lift-the-flap format, complemented by a simple narrative and endearing, distinctive illustrations. The book’s immediate acclaim prompted him to dedicate himself fully to writing. Since then, Spot books have delighted children globally, inspiring audiobooks, animations, toys, and games.
