Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, later transitioning to become a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a prominent advertising agency. In 1978, Eric conceived a bedtime story for his son about a small puppy, and thus, Spot was created.
His book Where’s Spot? was published in 1980, featuring an innovative lift-the-flap format, a simple narrative, and delightful, distinctive illustrations. The immediate success of this book prompted him to pursue a career as a full-time author. The Spot books have since been cherished by children globally, extending into audiobooks, animation, toys, and games.
