Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger, progressing to become a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric created a bedtime story about a small puppy for his son, thus bringing Spot to life. Where’s Spot? was published in 1980, an interactive children’s book that featured a groundbreaking lift-the-flap format alongside a simple narrative and engaging, distinctive illustrations. Its immediate success inspired him to dedicate himself fully to writing. Since then, Spot books have delighted children globally, spawning audio books, animations, toys, and games.
