About The Author
Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014)
Eric Hill was the creator of the beloved children’s character, Spot the puppy. He began his artistic journey as an art studio messenger, later transitioning into a career as a cartoonist and eventually serving as an art director at a prominent advertising agency.
In 1978, Hill conceived a bedtime story for his son, which marked the birth of Spot. The first book, Where’s Spot?, was published in 1980. This interactive children’s book featured an innovative lift-the-flap format, complemented by a simple narrative and endearing, whimsical illustrations. The book’s immediate success inspired Hill to dedicate himself fully to writing, and the Spot series has since brought joy to children globally through books, audiobooks, animations, toys, and games.
