Eric Hill
Eric Hill OBE (1927-2014) was the creator of the beloved children’s character Spot. He began his artistic career as an art studio messenger before becoming a cartoonist and eventually, an art director at a leading advertising agency.
In 1978, Eric created a bedtime story about a small puppy for his son, and Spot was born. He published Where’s Spot? in 1980, an interactive children’s book featuring a pioneering lift-the-flap format, a simple story, and charming, quirky illustrations. Its immediate success prompted him to become a full-time author. Spot books have since been enjoyed by children worldwide and adapted into audiobooks, animations, toys, and games.
