Critics Review

The Unveiling is a notoriously difficult text … In that sense, and as a real contribution to classical Islamic intellectual history, Gillon’s book gives us an accessible, learned, and thoughtful prism to approach the period and unveil the Unveiling. * Muslim World Review *
…we should give ample credit to Gillon for all the light shed on what I find a most difficult and perplexing task, one deeply involved in trying to explain and elucidate this particular Ismaili work. It cannot have been easy and yet Gillon seems to have done enviably well where many of us would have given up in despair. * Journal of the American Society for Premodern Asia *
