About The Author

Freda Moon

  • Freda Moon is an award-winning travel writer and travel editor for SFGATE. Her work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, Afar, and Sunset magazine. She is also the co-author of Cabin Porn: Inside and her writing has been recognized in The Best American Travel Writing anthology, earning her the Society of American Travel Writers’ Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist Award. Freda resides in a vintage trawler in the San Francisco Bay with her family, but frequently visits her favored U.S. beach destination, Rehoboth Beach in Delaware.

  • Ashley Harrell is a writer whose work focuses on the sea, wildlife, travel, and compelling individuals. Her storytelling skills were honed as an alt-weekly staff writer and through coaching writing at Stanford University. She later relocated to Costa Rica, where she took on editing roles for a newspaper’s features section and an inflight travel magazine. Ashley has reported from 15 countries and co-authored 47 guidebooks. In her free time, she enjoys trampolining, scuba diving, and photographing wildlife, including her dog.
