Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843) was a German poet, also known for his novel Hyperion.
Michael Hamburger was born in Berlin in 1924. His family emigrated to England in 1933. His poetry collections include Flowering Cactus, Weather and Season, and Ownerless Earth: New and Selected Poems. His translations include works by Hofmannsthal and Grass, as well as Poems and Fragments, a project he dedicated many years to.
