Critic Reviews

“Funny, magical and quirky!... Sometimes I am reticent to promote books with ghouls and monsters when they might frighten young readers, but this is so cheeky in its approach that there is no 'fear-factor' in this story, it is just mischievous and filled with humour.”

This is a mystery with a difference- you help decide the ending. Dr Frankle Finks monster maker has gone missing! And you are on the case with your yeti detective partner Klaus Solstaag. The Monster Maker was stolen at Monty's birthday party. Suspects include a werewolf, goblins, a ghost, vampire, witches, a zombie clown and even Dr Franklefink and Monty. You choose which clues to follow and the path the story takes next. The series' second book, The Time Thief, is out now too. The Geelong Advertiser
This book made me feel I was right there in the action, that I was a real detective. I enjoyed the book so much that when I read it before bed I had dreams about it. One morning, I woke up sad because I thought I was in my detective’s office from the book. It felt so real. If you like mystery, fun-loving animals, and magic societies, then Solve Your Own Mystery: The Monster Maker, is the book for you. -- Maeve Squiz Kids Book Club reviewer
I really enjoyed this book and the characters… I felt really mad at Klaus because he said I had to be his assistant. I didn’t want to be his assistant! I also felt like the book was speaking to me and was telling me what to do. I liked how there was a case file at the back of this book. I really had the feeling that the book was talking to me. -- Haley Squiz Kids Book Club reviewer
