Critics Review
“A joyful, freeing guide to retreats with fully accessible practices to suit a range of personalities. An approachable companion, Gemma Simmonds provides all we need for an enriching time with God. I can’t wait to try it out!” – Amy Boucher-Pye, retreat leader and author of 7 Ways to Pray
“In her wise advice on retreats and how to make them, Gemma Simmonds gives the Ignatian wisdom a new focus and relevance for our troubled times. In a world where isolation and loneliness so often block our capacity for healing solitude, and where the mental noise of our culture so easily makes us forget the value of the different levels and kinds of silence, this friendly advice will help and support many to begin their way back to spiritual depth and balance.” – Laurence Freeman OSB, The World Community for Christian Meditation
“This is a beautiful book, overflowing with inspirational insight and practical teaching communicated with wisdom, gentleness and simplicity. It will draw you into a practice of retreat that will lead to a deeper awareness of the presence of the divine. Gemma captures the missional essence of God by illuminating an inner life, nourished by retreat, which will affect the outward expression of faith.” – Brian Heasley, International Prayer Director, 24-7 Prayer
