Critics Review

Some picture books are for all ages. This is a remarkable example, an artist’s sketchbook drawn over ten years in the refugee camps of 12 countries, with text that tells the poignant stories of people in transit. * The Sunday Times *
In Drawn Across Borders: True Stories of Migration Butler presents stunning ink, pen and watercolour illustrations which draw us more deeply into the real stories of people migrating across Europe, Asia and Africa to find work, seek safety, flee from conflict and find a better way to live. When we meet the people George has drawn and read their stories it’s impossible not to feel connected to them through a shared love of home and the desire to protect and provide for our families. A hauntingly beautiful book which will live with you for a long time. * The Scotsman *
Featured in Pen & Inc Autumn/Winter 2022 listings, highlighting the best in diversity and inclusion in children’s books. * Pen & Inc *
. A powerful book that makes readers see the suffering of people through the artist’s eyes. * The White Ravens 2022 *
Sensitive prose…beautiful pen and ink illustrations. This book is a powerful testament to the real lives that get lost behind the headlines of war and global crisis. * Children’s Books Ireland *
