About The Author

Gregory W. Young

Gregory W. Young has spent more than four decades inside the funeral profession as a director, regulator, and consumer advocate. A former funeral homeowner and member of the New Jersey State Board of Mortuary Science, he provided public testimony when the Federal Trade Commission’s Funeral Rule was first being finalized in the 1980s. Since then, he has built a reputation as one of the nation’s leading experts on funeral industry practices, frequently serving as a forensic consultant and expert witness in cases involving funeral misconduct and consumer abuse.

Drawing on his unique insider knowledge, Young has worked tirelessly to help families understand their rights, navigate difficult choices, and protect themselves from exploitation during one of life’s most vulnerable moments. His writing blends compassion with clear, practical advice, giving readers both the confidence and the tools to ensure dignity and fairness in the funeral process.

When he is not consulting on legal cases or educating families, Young is an active voice for higher standards and accountability in the death-care industry, working alongside national and state associations to promote ethical practices and professional excellence.
