Ian McDonald

IAN MCDONALD

Born in Manchester, England, in 1960 to an Irish mother and a Scottish father, Ian McDonald moved with his family to Northern Ireland in 1965.

He is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Locus Award, the British Science Fiction Association Award, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award. His notable works include the novels King of Morning, Queen of Day (winner of the Philip K. Dick Award), River of Gods, and The Dervish House, as well as the graphic novel Kling Klang Klatch, among many others.

In 2019, the European Science Fiction Society honored him with the title of Grand Master of Science Fiction.

Ian McDonald currently resides in Belfast.
