Iris Murdoch (1919-1999) was born in Dublin and raised in London. She pursued her philosophical studies at Cambridge and subsequently held a fellowship in philosophy at St. Anne’s College for two decades.
Murdoch’s literary career began in 1954 with the publication of her first novel, which immediately established her as a significant literary voice. Throughout her prolific career, she authored over 26 novels, in addition to contributions to philosophy, drama, and poetry.
