About The Author

Ivan Curovic

Ivan Curovic is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Physical Education and a PhD candidate in Exercise Science at the University of Lancashire. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE) and combines academic research with extensive applied coaching and personal training experience.

His research focuses on neurophysiological adaptations to resistance exercise, with particular emphasis on upper body strength development and its transfer to high-intensity actions in professional soccer. He has published peer-reviewed research in leading international journals on topics including vertical strength transfer, resistance exercise–induced metabolic stress, and the role of personal training in health and performance outcomes.

Alongside his academic work, Ivan has worked as a running and conditioning coordinator, elite athletic performance consultant, and personal trainer. His teaching and research advocate a holistic approach to coaching that integrates evidence-based exercise science with long-term physical literacy and sustainable behaviour change principles.
