Summary
In Platinum Rediscovered, world-renowned jewellery historian Dr. Jack Ogden reveals how, although platinum is usually thought of as a modern luxury, synonymous with Cartier and the great houses from the early 1900s onwards, it actually has a longer and previously untold history. This deeply researched study uncovers forgotten jewellery and stories in platinum’s journey, and involves a cast of players that ranges from some of the most famous jewellers of their day to the likes of Plato, Spanish conquistadors, and one of Casanova’s lovers.
