Critics Review

Praise for Backworlds

“The chills start on the page and then follow you into the real world. This is a thriller that won’t let go of your mind.” —Brian Freeman, New York Times bestselling author of Infinite

“Jeremy Bates’s Backworlds is a fast-paced, well-oiled scare machine.” —Nick Cutter, bestselling author of The Troop and The Deep

“Jeremy Bates excels at writing thrillers packed with thought-provoking ideas. Backworlds is an engaging, easy-to-read thriller that asks big questions about how real our reality really is.” —Craig DiLouie, bestselling author of Episode Thirteen and The Summer Fun Massacre

“Backworlds takes a killer premise and runs with it, dropping an ordinary man through the cracks of reality and into a version of New York he never knew existed. Jeremy Bates blends the unsettling liminal horror of Backrooms with the reality-bending paranoia of The Matrix, then throws in enough monsters, dark humor, and genuinely weird surprises to make the whole thing his own. This is a strange, creepy ride that keeps finding new ways to raise the stakes. Strap in.” —Carter Wilson, USA Today bestselling author of Tell Me What You Did

“A fascinating thrill ride through the streets and underground of New York that will leave you questioning the nature of reality. I can’t recommend Backworlds enough!” —Hunter Shea, author of The Montauk Monster

“In Backworlds, Jeremy Bates takes us to a horrifying existence in a universe scientists say may actually exist!” —Jason Offutt, author of The Girl in the Corn and The Boy From Two Worlds

“Bates takes us on a nightmarish journey into a dark world that lives one wrong step away from our own.” —Richard Cox, author of The Boys of Summer and Thomas World

Praise for The No-End House

“A heart-stopping twist on the traditional haunted house story. With The No-End House, Jeremy Bates is at the top of his game.” —Jeff Menapace, bestselling author of the Bad Games series

“The No-End House is like Eli Roth’s Hostel by way of Dante’s Inferno, ushering its protagonists—and the reader—through increasingly bizarre scenarios until the final, excitable denouement. It’s more than just a haunted house novel; it’s a puzzle box of mounting dread. A treat for readers who like their horror served up with a side order of what the hell is going on? Highly recommended.” —Ronald Malfi, bestselling author of Small Town Horror

“Jeremy Bates’s The No-End House is a hell of an adventure. It’s a savage, unpredictable, zigzagging trip through the torturous puzzles of an impossible escape room. Each twist will have you second-guessing the next, and wherever you think the story is heading, you’re wrong. Cruel, dark, and highly recommended.” —David Moody, author of Hater and Shadowlocked

“I could not put down The No-End House. Jeremy Bates is a fearless and vivid storyteller, and the book is a wild, unpredictable ride that delivers thrills, chills, twists, and turns in equal measure. It’s my favorite kind of book—one that steals your heart, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and leaves you thinking long after you’ve turned the last page.” —Luisa Colón, author of Bad Moon Rising and The Burning Class

“I’ve been a fan of Jeremy Bates for a long time, and this is some of his best work. The No-End House is an intense psychological thriller and visceral horror novel that’s full of surprises. What a gripping, immersive experience that kept me guessing to the very end.” —Richard Thomas, Bram Stoker and Shirley Jackson Awards finalist and author of Disintegration and Breaker

“The No-End House is Jeremy’s bid to have the word ‘Horror’ capitalized! Loved this story. It has more twists and turns than the Catacombs of Paris, and it’s twice as grisly! I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did.” —Mark Tufo, author of the Zombie Fallout series
