Jim Burnstein is a successful Hollywood screenwriter who achieved his career goals without relocating from his home in Plymouth, Michigan.

Burnstein served on the Michigan Film Office Advisory Council from 2003 to 2011. He was appointed by Governor John Engler and reappointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm. As Vice Chair of the Council, Burnstein was instrumental in advocating for the Michigan Film Incentive program, which was enacted in 2008.
