What They're Saying

Critics Review

“This book is a must-read for any young students even considering engineering. It expertly weaves together broad descriptions, practical applications, and example projects for each engineering discipline, and it provides probing questions to help young people determine their passions. It should be read in middle school or early high school and kept for later reference.” –Brad C. McCoy, Ph.D., Civil Engineer

“A Teen’s Guide to Engineering is an excellent resource for high school students who are curious about engineering, what it’s like to be an engineer, and how to become one. Teenagers who enjoy science and mathematics and want to know how engineers use them in their jobs will find this book invaluable.” –John Mattingly, Ph.D., Nuclear Engineering

“From the first time I observed Dr. Gifford teach a college chemistry class, I knew his gift was exceptional teaching and, particularly, making abstract scientific concepts understandable. Later, while we were both obtaining our PhDs at North Carolina State University, he taught my children homeschool science. The affection and enthusiasm my children had for Mr. Jim’s teaching were both genuine and enduring. Dr. Gifford is a gifted educator: this book will benefit any teenager and parent trying to navigate educational and vocational decisions.” –Andrew Kick, Ph.D., Comparative Biomedical Sciences, immunology concentration
