Joe Casey
Man of Action Entertainment is a bi-coastal creative studio founded in 2000. They created the hit animated series Ben 10 and Generator Rex for Cartoon Network. As a writers’ collective, Man of Action also served as co-executive producer and writer for Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man and is currently an executive producer/writer for Marvel’s Avengers Assemble on Disney XD.
Man of Action Entertainment consists of creators Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, and Steven T. Seagle. Their characters and team, created by Man of Action, were utilized in Disney/Marvel’s Academy Award®-winning feature Big Hero 6, as credited in the main titles. This film marked the first time Disney adapted Marvel comic book characters into an animated feature and was the first film based on a comic book IP to win an Academy Award®.
Before focusing on creating their own original worlds and characters for their comic books and graphic novels published through their Man of Action imprint at Image Comics, the quartet collectively worked on major comic franchise characters, from Superman to X-Men.
Joe Casey is recognized for his Eisner Award-nominated cosmic superhero epic, Gødland. His critically acclaimed runs on Wildcats and Automatic Kafka appeared on numerous “best of the decade” lists. His genre-bending cult favorites Officer Downe and Butcher Baker The Righteous Maker contributed to his inclusion on MTV.com’s list of the 10 best writers of 2011.
In 2013, Casey launched new titles under the Man of Action imprint at Image Comics: Sex, a critically acclaimed series originally previewed in Playboy, and The Bounce, now available as a graphic novel. Valhalla Mad debuted in May 2015, from the writer described by Comics Alliance as “the most dangerous man in comics.” In 2013, Casey also created a one-shot comic, Modern Romance, for the prestigious 60th Anniversary issue of Playboy. Officer Downe is currently in post-production as a feature film, with Casey serving as screenwriter and producer.
Man of Action Entertainment is also producing the feature film I Kill Giants. Additionally, Man of Action Entertainment is creating, writing, and producing a new 26-episode Mega Man animated series for Dentsu and Capcom, scheduled for 2017. They are also returning to their original creation as Executive Producers of a new Ben 10 series for Cartoon Network.
Paul Fry is a UK-based comic book artist who has worked for DC, Heavy Metal Magazine, Marvel Comics, and Image Comics. He contributed to the Star Wars universe with titles such as Star Wars: Life Day, Han Solo and Chewbacca, Star Wars Revelations, and the Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary one-shot Max Rebo.
Paul’s recent projects include the Darth Vader series and the Blood Squad Seven series for Image Comics.
