His specialization is in herbal drug technology and natural products, with over 22 years of teaching and research experience. He is a recipient of seven awards in the field of HMPs and is a BOYSCAST fellow of DST, Government of India. He is a member of numerous professional bodies, including the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the International Society of Ethnopharmacology (ISE), and the International Society for Medicinal Plant Research (GA), Germany. He has published 118 papers in reputable journals and serves on the editorial boards of many journals. Professor Patil has undertaken 28 foreign visits for academic and scientific assignments to countries including Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, South Africa, Germany, France, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, the USA, and Australia.
