About The Author
Kate Burridge
Kate Burridge is Professor of Linguistics at Monash University. Her research interests include grammatical change in Germanic languages, the notion of linguistic taboo, and the structure and history of English. Her books include Forbidden Words (with Keith Allan, 2006), Introducing English Grammar (with Kersti Borjars, 2010) and Gift of the Gob: Morsels of English language history (2010). Reka Benczes is Assistant Professor at Eotvos Lorand University (Budapest, Hungary), and currently Visiting Scholar at Indiana University (Bloomington, USA). Her main fields of interest are cognitive semantics, linguistic creativity and compounding. Books include Creative Compounding in English (2006) and Kognitiv nyelveszet, an introduction to cognitive linguistics in Hungarian (2010, with Zoltan Kovecses).
