Katrina McKelvey

Katrina McKelvey is a children’s author, former primary school teacher, wife, and mother to two tweenagers and a cocker spaniel. She has written many children’s picture books and educational readers, including No Baths Week, Up To Something, Isla’s Family Tree (April, 2020), and Chasing Rainbows (August, 2020).

She is highly involved in the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and enjoys attending literary conferences and festivals, as well as visiting schools. Katrina is left-handed, loves tea and rollercoasters, and is addicted to mint chocolate. A memorable experience was surviving Hurricane Gene (category 5) while in lockdown at Disney World a few years ago, sustained by awful brownies.

Cheri Hughes

Cheri Hughes was born in Japan and raised in both the U.S. and Japan. She studied design in Japan and specializes in illustration. Cheri has illustrated a number of picture books for Big Sky Publishing, including The Forever Kid with Elizabeth Cummings and Barnaby and the Lost Treasure of Bunnyville and Ella Saw the Tree with author Robert Vescio. She has also worked on theatre and TV set designs. She now resides in Australia.
