Kentaro Miura
Kentaro Miura debuted Berserk Prototype, a 48-page manga, in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This work served as an introduction to the fantasy world of Berserk and earned Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School.
In 1989, after receiving his doctorate, Miura began work on King of Wolves, a project based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).
The first volume of Berserk was released in 1990, achieving limited success. Miura later collaborated with Buronson again on a manga titled Japan. Miura’s fame surged with the “The Golden Age” story arc of Berserk. The immense success of this masterpiece established him as one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.
In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk, which aired on NTV that same year. The series has since inspired a wide array of merchandise, including statues, action figures, keychains, video games, and a trading card game.
In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk.
Miura resides in Tokyo, Japan.
