Kentaro Miura
Kentaro Miura debuted his first manga, Berserk Prototype, in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This 48-page work served as an introduction to the Berserk fantasy world and earned him a prize from the Comi Manga School.
After receiving his doctorate degree in 1989, Miura began a project titled King of Wolves, based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).
In 1990, the first volume of Berserk was released, achieving moderate success. Miura collaborated with Buronson again on a manga entitled Japan. His fame grew significantly after Berserk began its “The Golden Age” story arc. The immense success of this masterpiece established him as one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.
In 1997, Miura supervised the production of the 25-episode anime adaptation of Berserk, which aired that year on NTV. The Berserk franchise has since expanded to include a wide range of merchandise, including statues, action figures, key rings, video games, and a trading card game.
In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
