Kentaro Miura
Kentaro Miura debuted his first manga, Berserk Prototype, in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This 48-page work served as an introduction to the Berserk fantasy world and earned Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School.
After receiving his doctorate in 1989, Miura began work on King of Wolves, a project based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star).
In 1990, the first volume of Berserk was released, achieving moderate success. Miura collaborated with Buronson once more on the manga Japan. His fame grew significantly as Berserk entered “The Golden Age” story arc. The immense success of this masterpiece established him as one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.
In 1997, Miura supervised the production of a 25-episode anime adaptation of Berserk, which aired on NTV in the same year. The Berserk series has inspired a wide range of merchandise, including statues, action figures, keychains, video games, and a trading card game.
In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for his work on Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
