About The Author

Lawrence A. Yaggi

Lawrence Yaggi Jr. was born on November 13, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from January 1951 to November 1954. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1959.

He was married to his first wife, Nancy, for more than 52 years. Together they raised three children, two sons and a daughter. Lawrence served as Nancy’s devoted caregiver through her battle with breast cancer until her passing in May 2004.

In August 2005, Lawrence married Kathryn, “Kathie.” He became a primary caregiver again when Kathie was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. His daughter Linda sacrificed her home and career to move in and assist with Kathie’s care. Kathie passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 82.

Now 96, Lawrence has written two books based on his experiences: one on Alzheimer’s caregiving and one on breast cancer caregiving. He hopes to offer comfort and practical guidance to others facing similar challenges. He is not a medical professional, but rather someone who has navigated these difficult paths and offers support through his writing.

Lawrence currently lives in Roseburg, Oregon, with his daughter Linda and son David.
