Lawrence A. Yaggi Jr. is a retired electrical engineer and financial officer, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He lives in Roseburg, in the timber country of Douglas County, Oregon. He spent his working life finding why systems had stopped working and repairing them, first in engineering and later in finance. Now, he has turned that same diagnostic discipline on the country itself, because refusing to walk past a broken thing doesn’t retire.
Rebuilding Our Democracy is the first title in his Democracy, Big D and Small d, series and grew out of a longer strategy framework he authored and distributes openly under a Creative Commons license. He is also the author of three earlier caregiving and volunteer-training books, written out of his years caring for his late wives through breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
