Maggie Hope
Maggie Hope was born in County Durham during the 1930s. The daughter of a coal miner, she experienced firsthand the hardships faced by mining families during that era. Raised in a small miner’s cottage with her three sisters, she never imagined a career in writing.
After leaving school at sixteen, Maggie became a nurse, gathering stories from colleagues who had served in the war. She left nursing upon marrying and starting a family. In her 50s, Maggie embarked on her writing career and is now a Sunday Times bestselling author of fifteen novels.
