Maria Pedro Miala
Maria Pedro Miala, BSN, RN, Fellow Nurse Economist is a healthcare innovator, author, and health systems strategist with 20 years of clinical experience.
She is a member of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth and the African Health Economics and Policy Association. Maria founded eWoundHelp and created Tele-Educativo to advance digital health in Angola.
Her work has earned global honors, including the Nursing Now Challenge and ActivHeal awards, which she won in 2022. She has mentored young Lusophone African entrepreneurs through the Tony Elumelu Foundation and volunteered with UN Women.
Most recently, Angola’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI), through FUNDECIT, recognized her as a selected candidate for the 2026 National Innovation Award in Medical and Health Sciences.
