About The Author
Mark Linsenbardt
Mark A. Linsenbardt has over twenty years of experience working with parents, teenagers, professionals, and judges, teaching the science of brain function and its practical applications. His Neurons and Narratives series is a culmination of this work, featuring a Parent Edition and a Teen Edition, with a Family Workbook currently in development. Each book aims to present adolescent neuroscience in accessible, real-life language, moving beyond classroom terminology.
The series integrates research from developmental neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and family systems theory, emphasizing that individuals do not exist in isolation. A teenager’s behavior is understood within their family context, and a parent’s reaction is influenced by their personal history. Neurons and Narratives addresses both sides of this dynamic, recognizing that effective change requires mutual understanding.
For nearly twenty years, Mark has worked directly with teenagers, fostering leadership skills in JROTC programs across the nation and supporting young people facing addiction, legal challenges, and recovery. This direct engagement profoundly shapes the Teen Edition, written with teenagers as the intended audience, reflecting a deep respect for their capabilities.
Over the past fourteen years, Mark has led family workshops through ResetYourLife and facilitated Recovery Camps for specialty courts, including drug courts, juvenile courts, and court-mandated family programs. He has also delivered workshops and keynote addresses on trauma to diverse audiences, including judges and judicial employees throughout Nevada, and has been a featured speaker at numerous events, from intimate seminars to large conferences, for over two decades.
As Chief Officer of Content Development for Sapient America, Mark has created various resources such as books, discussion cards, educational games, and guided programs for the recovery and mental health community. The Neurons and Narratives series extends this mission to family systems, applying a science-based, clear communication approach to support parents and teenagers.
Mark has been actively writing and publishing since 1997. A native of Las Vegas, he is a sought-after speaker for conventions, conferences, and judicial training events both regionally and nationally.
