Mark Waid
Mark Waid: New York Times best-selling author with a nearly three-decade-long career writing for every major company in the comics industry. His extensive work includes runs on Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, Ka-Zar, and Fantastic Four. He collaborated with painter Alex Ross on the Eisner Award-winning Kingdom Come and received critical acclaim for his Eisner Award-winning run on Daredevil with artist Chris Samnee. Waid has also written for diverse pop-cultural icons such as Princess Leia and Archie, and contributed to All-New, All-Different Avengers, Avengers, Black Widow, Captain America, Champions, and Doctor Strange.
Mike Wieringo: Established himself as a leading comic-book artist, notably with writer Mark Waid on DC’s Flash, which featured the debut of Impulse. Their collaboration continued on Fantastic Four in 2002, launching their tenure with a historic nine-cent first issue. Wieringo’s dynamic action style made him well-suited to launch Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in 2005 with writer Peter David.
Howard Porter: Began his comics career in 1988 as an inking assistant. After his first penciling work on The Ray, he illustrated titles such as Lobo, Hawkman, Underworld Unleashed, and notably, JLA. He returned to comics in 2003 to pencil Fantastic Four.
Paul Smith: A former animator for Ralph Bakshi, Paul Smith penciled Uncanny X-Men during a significant run that included Rogue joining the team, Storm’s redesigned look, Wolverine’s near-marriage, and Cyclops’ wedding to Madelyne Pryor. He then worked on Doctor Strange, Marvel Fanfare, and others, and drew the acclaimed X-Men/Alpha Flight miniseries. With James Robinson, he co-created DC’s Golden Age miniseries, focusing on wartime heroes. His work for other companies includes First’s Grimjack and Image’s Leave It to Chance. He later returned to Marvel to pencil the miniseries Kitty Pryde: Shadow and Flame.
