About The Author
Mary Watson
Mary Watson is from South Africa and now lives on the west coast of Ireland. She holds a PhD from the University of Cape Town, where she previously taught for many years. Watson is a recipient of the Caine Prize for African Writing for her adult fiction published in South Africa. In 2014, she was recognized on the Africa39 list, which highlights writers under 40 poised to shape the future of African literature. Her young adult novels have been nominated for the Irish Book Awards and the Carnegie Medal. Her adult debut novel, The Cleaner, achieved instant bestseller status on The Irish Times list.
