About The Author

Maryanne Moll

Maryanne Moll is the author of three books:

  • Awakenings (2001) - A collection of essays.
  • Little Freedoms (2003) - A collection of essays.
  • Married Women (2014) - A short story collection, a finalist for the Cirilo F. Bautista Prize for Best Book of Short Fiction in English.

Her short story, ‘At Merienda,’ won Third Prize in the 2005 Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. Her other short stories have been featured in anthologies such as Philippine Speculative Fiction IV, Philippine Genre Stories: Special Crime Edition, and Anomalous 30.

Moll was a fellow for the National Writer’s Workshops at the University of Santo Tomas (2002), Dumaguete (2021), and the University of the Philippines (2021).

Her journalism career included roles as a reporter and columnist for Bikol Daily, and she also worked as a disk jockey and newscaster for an FM radio station in Naga City, Camarines Sur. She has created and managed publications for the Philippine National Police and served as a Publications Specialist for a government-owned-and-controlled corporation for over ten years.

She holds units towards a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of the Philippines Diliman and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature, Major in Literary Theory, at UP Diliman, where she is working on her thesis.
