About The Author
Moebius
French artist Jean Giraud, already renowned for his western comic series Blueberry, established a second career under the pseudonym Moebius starting in 1963. He later achieved international fame for his science-fiction, artistic, and erotic art. Moebius is celebrated for collaborations with Alejandro Jodorowsky, including the wordless comics fantasy, Arzach.
In 1983, he co-founded the Aedena company and moved to Los Angeles. During his time in the USA, his most important works were published by Marvel Comics, and he illustrated an episode of Silver Surfer with Stan Lee.
Alongside his extensive comics and illustration work, Moebius was active in the film industry, contributing preliminary designs to films like Alien, Tron, The Abyss, Masters of the Universe, and The Fifth Element. He also provided concept art for Alejandro Jodorowsky’s unproduced adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
Moebius passed away in Paris on March 10, 2012, at the age of 73.
